A PRAYER DURING INTERREGNUM
Lord God, we are all your children; we are many but are one body in Christ. You gave us gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, help us to use those gifts in your service. In interregnum there are many temptations: to do less, to do more, to do differently. May the Holy Spirit guide and strengthen us in this time of uncertainty and change. Help us to seek your wisdom before we make decisions, and draw encouragement from each other as we bring new life and faith to our community. We look forward in humility to a new incumbent for our Benefice who will serve us with joy and lead us by example, in loving obedience to your son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Almighty God, we pray for your blessing on all who share in the life and work of our church and parish: in the ministry of word and sacrament, in teaching and pastoral care, in service to the Diocese and Deanery; among the community and those in need, in ecumenical fellowship and co-operation. We pray for all members of the congregation, that in their life and work they may advance your kingdom and bear witness to your love, shown in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
God our Father, you have called us to be your beloved people. We ask you to bless our parish community and may your spirit guide the words and deeds of all who belong to it. May all the homes of our parish be filled with the spirit of love, with the obedience of faith, and with the strength of hope. Make the lives of all of us be happy in your service and bring us in your love to our eternal home. We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
We thank you Father for the place in which you have called us to live, or work and worship. As you sent your Son Jesus Christ into our world to bring the light of your love into our darkness, so may we seek to go in your name to the people we live and work amongst and be for them the light of your presence. Amen.
Father, Pour out your Spirit upon the people of this parish. Grant us a new vision of your glory, a new experience of your power, a new faithfulness to your word, and a new consecration to your service, so that your love may grow among us and your kingdom come. Amen
God of Mission, who alone brings growth to your Church: Send your Holy Spirit to bring vision to our planning, wisdom to our actions,
Lord, you have joined us in this community of faith. We thank you for the love and fellowship we share and the many blessings you have given us. Yet we ask that you not let us grow complacent or cling too tightly to what we have. Inspire us to use our resources and talents generously on behalf of others. Fill our hearts with tolerance that we may embrace all people and accept their differing beliefs and opinions. In times of danger and uncertainty, protect and comfort us. Strengthen us when we are weak, and forgive us when we fail you. Above all, help us always to keep you in our minds and to love and serve you with our whole hearts. Amen.
Christ Jesus, you who love us and deepen in us the knowledge of your name and make known the way of salvation: you call us to take time and to be with you in prayer, to draw close to you and to seek your will. You desire to purify our hearts and to lead us to repentance: draw us together as a community and help us to open our hearts to appreciate the gift of each other. Bless our parish community and all those we love. May your grace lead us to a new Pentecost in our lives to go and proclaim the Good News to all and a deeper desire to live the mission of the Church. Amen.
Dear Lord and Father of us all, help me to meet you each day in the words and deeds of others; Teach me to listen to you that I may know your will; Strengthen us to be your witnesses in the world; Guide with your Spirit the family of this parish, this deanery and this diocese to seek your way, your truth, your life, through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Lord, we thank you for your strengthening presence in the fellowship of our congregation; in the wonder of children; in the wisdom of our PCC; in the words and lives of our church leaders; in the deep silence of prayer; in the joyous notes of our musicians; in the light that streams through our windows; in the countryside that surrounds us. Grant, O Lord, that we may stay alive to your presence and be aware of your will even in the darkest of times. May we in all our actions think first of you, second of others, and lastly of ourselves. Amen
Living God, draw us deeper into your love; Jesus our Lord, send us to care and serve; Holy Spirit, make us heralds of good news. Stir us, strengthen us, teach and inspire us to live your love with generosity and joy, imagination and courage; for the sake of your world and in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Grant, O Lord, that your love may so fill our lives that we count nothing too small to do for you, nothing too much to give and nothing to hard to bear for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.
